Meet the owners
Hi there! We’re Courtney and Michael, the heart and hands behind Heritage Rise Sourdough.
Courtney opened the bakery in early 2024, inspired by a deep-rooted passion for food and the opportunity to carry on the legacy of a 1790s sourdough starter passed down through generations. Growing up in California, Courtney’s love for cooking began at a young age, learning from her parents and experimenting in the kitchen with lots of laughter and a few funny mishaps. With a background in both the food and medical industries, Courtney brings a love of connection and creativity to every loaf.
Michael grew up in Texas and worked hands-on in the food industry for many years, specializing in baking, before moving to California to pursue his current career. His experience and support are integral to our bakery’s success—whether it’s helping at markets, perfecting recipes, or dreaming up what’s next for Heritage Rise.
Of course, we couldn’t do it without the constant cheering on from our three kids, who inspire us every day to keep growing and creating.
Together, we’re proud to create artisan sourdough with care, community, and tradition at the heart of every bite. Thank you for supporting our journey—we can’t wait to share our love of sourdough with you!
